A camp is only as strong as its leadership. Camp Extreme Tours is committed to providing skilled leadership. Our counselors are excellent role models who are focused on the needs of campers. All of our staff has previous camp counselor and trip experience. Counselors are carefully selected for their camp skills and must possess superb character building skills. Staff is screened with a thorough state and local background check.

Training

All staff goes through an intensive staff training which includes safety, effective group leadership, teaching skills, emergency procedures, CPR, first aid and lifeguard certification. To ensure a safe quality experience our unique camp has a very small staff to camper ratio of 1 to 4.

Meet Our Team!

Camp Extreme Tours is owned and operated by Executive Director, Derek Hart. Derek Hart has over 13 years experience in the camping industry. He has spent 7 years as the Executive Director of YMCA Camp Indian Springs, and has been the Executive Director of Camp Extreme Tours since 2003. During his years at Indian Springs, he planned and supervised dozens of trip and travel camps while finding and building relationships with the most qualified outfitters in the Eastern United States. In addition, Derek Hart is an expert extreme activity instructor of skateboarding, snowboarding, and ATV riding.

Our 2008 Director, Ryan Crouch, has worked with a variety of youth programs and summer camps since 1996. His experience ranges working as a camp counselor, Unit Director, and now he has taken the reigns as Camp Extreme Tour’s Summer Camp Director! His education includes a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Recreation from the University of Florida and the completion of various YMCA training programs. Ryan also has multiple years of experience as a climbing and mountain biking instructor. Ryan’s field of work is his greatest passion and he is working to bring exciting adventures and learning experiences to all Camp Extreme summer campers!
